Report: Raptors' hopes of re-signing Leonard fading

Report: Raptors' hopes of re-signing Leonard fading It seemed to be a foregone conclusion that Kawhi Leonard was going to return to Toronto. An impending free agent, that’s apparently no longer the case. According to Chris Broussard of Fox Sports, the chances of Toronto retaining Leonard in free agency are “fading.” The report mentions the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers as the two teams likely to sign Leonard. Hearing Raptors chances of keeping Kawhi are fading. A return to SoCal – either team – getting more and more likely.

Stanley Johnson is officially a Toronto Raptor.

The club announced Thursday it has come to terms with the six-foot-seven, 245-pound forward, who split his time between the Detroit Pistons and the New Orleans Pelicans last season.

The financial details of the agreement were not released by the team, but The Athletic‘s Shams Charania reported last week it’s a two-year, $7.5-million contract with the second year being a player option.

The 23-year-old Johnson averaged 6.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 18.3 minutes in 66 games in 2018-19, along with 38.9 per cent shooting from the field and 28.8 per cent from beyond the arc.

Magic says he has spoken with Kawhi, uncle

Magic says he has spoken with Kawhi, uncle Former Los Angeles Lakers president Magic Johnson told the L.A. Times' Brad Turner that he spoke to Kawhi Leonard and his uncle, Dennis Robertson, Sunday after being contacted by Leonard's group. Such a conversation may not violate the terms of free agency because Johnson is no longer employed by the Lakers. Johnson said no meeting has been set between himself and Leonard, according to Turner. Leonard, an L.A. native, is expected to take a meeting with the Lakers after free agency officially commences Sunday evening. On Friday, Johnson - who abruptly resigned as Lakers president in April - said he planned on helping his old team recruit free agents such as Leonard.

Johnson was sent to New Orleans from Detroit as part of a three-team trade that saw Nikola Mirotic to the Milwaukee Bucks and Thon Maker to the Pistons.

Johnson was drafted with the eighth overall selection by the Pistons in 2015.

The Raptors also made official their signing of undrafted guard Terence Davis.

The terms were also not disclosed but Charania reported Monday it was a two-year deal with the first year being fully guaranteed.

The 22-year-old Davis — who stands six-foot-four and weighs in at 205 pounds — put up 12.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals in 121 career games across four seasons at Ole Miss (2015-19). He also shot 44.5 per cent from the floor and 33.9 per cent from three-point territory.
