Kevin Durant reportedly chose Nets because he liked direction of the franchise

Kevin Durant reportedly chose Nets because he liked direction of the franchise Kevin Durant chose to join Kyrie Irving on the Brooklyn Nets, and the two are bringing DeAndre Jordan with them. Durant is leaving behind the Golden State Warriors, with whom he won two championships but lost in the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors this year. So why did Durant choose the Nets of all teams? He and Irving supposedly had been talking for a while about teaming up. Durant reportedly wanted to play in New York, but according to Kendrick Perkins, the appeal of the Nets to Durant was the franchise’s direction. Perkins, a former teammate of Durant on the Oklahoma City Thunder, talked with KNBR’s “Murph & Mac Show” Friday about Durant’s move.

The Nets and Warriors have officially completed the sign - and - trade deal that sends Kevin Durant and a protected 2020 first-round pick to Russell, a restricted free agent, became expendable when the Nets finalized agreements with Durant and Kyrie Irving. “We’re excited to add a player of D’Angelo’s

The Warriors didn't want to lose Kevin Durant for nothing, and they had to pay a price to ensure that didn't happen. The Golden State Warriors didn't want to lose Kevin Durant for nothing, but he apparently didn't let them land D'Angelo Russell from the Brooklyn Nets for free.

Durant felt that a straight swap of himself for D'Angelo Russell was an unfair deal for the Nets, sources told ESPN's Brian Windhorst. With his approval needed to set the sign-and-trade in motion, the Warriors reluctantly included a first-round pick - albeit a highly protected one - in order to satisfy Durant and complete the swap.

The pick that Golden State sent Brooklyn will only convey next summer if it falls outside the top-20, Windhorst added. If it doesn't, Brooklyn will only receive a second-round pick in six years.

Report: Nets not front-runners to sign Durant

Report: Nets not front-runners to sign Durant In contrast to recent notions, the Brooklyn Nets are not currently the front-runners to sign superstar Kevin Durant, sources told SNY's Ian Begley. Durant has been linked with a Brooklyn move this offseason and Las Vegas oddsmakers have listed the Nets as -125 favorites to sign the impending free-agent forward. ESPN's Brian Windhorst suggested the Nets are "gaining confidence" in their ability to sign Durant, while Windhorst's colleague Kendrick Perkins labeled them the "front-runners" during a recent appearance on "The Jump." Durant reportedly declined his $31.5-million option for next season on Wednesday.

After trading away franchise player Kristaps Porzingis, losing out on top free agents Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to the Brooklyn Nets and missing the chance to draft Zion They would have to wait until December to put together a package including players who they have recently signed , however.

Warriors would create a .0M trade exception if they can convince the Nets to acquire Kevin Durant through a sign - and - trade rather than a straight free In return, the Thunder reportedly are receiving a massive haul of draft picks , along with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Danilo Gallinari from the Clippers.

Durant is expected to miss most, if not all, of next season after tearing his Achilles in the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors. Meanwhile, Russell is coming off a stellar season in which he averaged 21.1 points and seven assists and was a finalist for Most Improved Player.

Russell, who penned a max deal of his own in the sign-and-trade, is expected to play alongside All-Star guard Stephen Curry while Klay Thompson recovers from a torn ACL. While that could prove to be a difficult fit once Thompson returns, Russell acknowledged earlier this week he would be at ease if the Warriors elect to move him once again.
