Sports Antonio Brown keeps beefing with NFL players, and it may get him suspended

Antonio Brown is not on an NFL roster at the moment, and that means he has entirely too much free time on his hands.

The former Patriots, Raiders and Steelers receiver has been sending out — and subsequently deleting — posts on Twitter over the past week. The posts range from supporting threats aimed at a Sports Illustrated writer, to declaring he is not playing football, to saying actually he is playing football and now picking fights with other NFL players.

He also completely butchered the famous Muhammad Ali quote, "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee." He instead posted, "Float a [bee emoji]. Stay fly like a [butterfly emoji]." Not even close, but that's a much lighter offense compared to his other activity.

Everything else Brown has sent out has NFL teams concerned, according to Bleacher Report's Mike Freeman.

One team official interested in Antonio Brown echoes something I’ve heard repeatedly: “The league will use what he’s doing on Twitter as further proof he’s out of control and needs to be suspended.”

He's already burned bridges with three NFL teams, and he's picked a fight on Twitter with members of two others (Rams and Browns). Earlier this week, he engaged in an argument with Rams safety Eric Weddle.

Report: NFL investigating Antonio Brown's harassing text messages to second accuser

The NFL is investigating harassing text messages allegedly sent by Antonio Brown to the second woman who accused the wide receiver of sexual misconduct. On Monday, Sports Illustrated published a lengthy story containing many allegations of improper behavior by Brown, including incidents for which he has been sued. The story notably contained allegations from a female artist who says she was hired by Brown to paint a mural in his home. Brown met the woman when he won an auction bidding on a painting of hers at a charity softball game for the National Youth Foundation in June 2017.

Brown ’s accuser Britney Taylor has expressed a willingness to meet with the league as part of any investigation and league I think Antonio is one of the biggest divas to ever play football . That being said, he has no criminal record and It ’s the text messages that are going to get him in the public eye.

Just a few days later, he called out Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield, though Mayfield did mention Brown first. Mayfield was responding to someone who commented on his Instagram post.

After seeing this, Brown responded on Twitter.

"Sorry ass Chico keep rolling right you ain’t done nothing in this league the internet only place u would ever talk too or about me; you know u get beat quick slice u up some humble pie," Brown tweeted, and then later deleted.

As for Brown's current standing with the NFL, the league is still investigating the allegations levied against the receiver. Brown was accused of rape by his former trainer, and a Sports Illustrated article revealed he was also accused of sexual misconduct.

The NFL released a statement last week saying there's no need to take immediate action on Brown as he's not currently on a team. But the statement suggested Brown would be placed on the commissioner's exempt list if a team signs him in the near future.
