Oilers captain Connor McDavid scored a brilliant goal on the team's first shot of the game 1:31 into the first. He blazed down the right side, cut in front and tucked a shot behind Coyotes goaltender Darcy Kuemper.
The Coyotes then scored on their first shot of the game two minutes later when Michael Grabner beat Oilers netminder Mikko Koskinen short side.
Draisaitl's OT winner lifts Oilers past Penguins
Goaltender Mike Smith and forward Leon Draisaitl stole the spotlight for the Edmonton Oilers in a game that featured NHL superstars Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid. Smith stopped 51 shots and Draisaitl scored in overtime to give the Edmonton Oilers a 2-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. "It was obviously a pretty busy night for me," Smith said. "(Pittsburgh) came at us hard and kind of put us back on our heels. We stuck with it and found a way to get two more big points."Draisaitl gave the Oilers the second point with the overtime winner.

The Oilers carried the play in third period and finally tied it with 4:41 left when Gaetan Haas deflected a Matt Benning point shot. It was Haas' first NHL goal.
In overtime, Stepan took a pass on the left side and beat Koskinen up high.
The Oilers (10-4-2) will host St. Louis on Wednesday.
