Report: Canadiens negotiating with defenseman Victor Mete

Report: Canadiens negotiating with defenseman Victor Mete With a relatively light offseason ahead of them, the Canadiens have begun negotiations with young defenseman Victor Mete.Mete surprised a few people several years ago when he made the roster out of training camp at 19 years old with hopes his fast skating and defensive-first abilities might complement veteran Shea Weber. However, Weber got injured and Mete struggled. He played 49 games but was often scratched due to the fact that he wasn’t ready. He settled in last season, playing 71 games, and has been a solid defensive presence since then. Mete finally scored his first NHL goal last week after going scoreless in 126 straight games.

Report: Blue Jackets shopping former No. 2 pick Ryan Murray prior to hand injury

Report: Blue Jackets shopping former No. 2 pick Ryan Murray prior to hand injury Ryan Murray’s name has come up in trade speculation for several years now and it appears that his name has been out there again lately. TSN’s Frank Seravalli reports that prior to the broken hand he recently sustained, the Blue Jackets had been shopping the defenseman. Of course, now that he’s set to miss three-to-four weeks, those discussions are almost certainly on hold. Murray’s injury history is a rather lengthy one and it undoubtedly is part of the reason that his name is once again out there in trade discussions.

Oilers defenseman Adam Larsson appears ready to return from broken leg .
The Oilers will have to make a corresponding move when they activate Larsson, who has been out since the first game of the season with a broken leg. The likely candidates to be sent to Bakersfield of the AHL would be defensemen Caleb Jones or Joel Persson, with Persson being the more likely candidate. The 25-year-old Persson, who signed out of the SHL, could use some time in the AHL to allow the game to slow down for him. He has only appeared in 10 games for the Oilers so far.
