NFL arranges private workout for Kaepernick

NFL arranges private workout for Kaepernick The NFL sent its teams a memo Tuesday stating a private workout will be held for free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick on Saturday in Atlanta, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Representatives from all clubs are invited to attend the workout, which will include on-field drills and an interview. Several teams inquired about Kaepernick's football readiness and both he and his reps have expressed a desire to return to the league, Rapoport added.

Kaepernick ' s representatives said they moved the workout because the NFL denied media access and his request to have an independent film crew "there to Kaepernick ' s team reportedly responded with a standard injury form. The NFL first announced Kaepernick ' s workout on Tuesday, but his

Bringing in Kaepernick would obviously open up the Patriots’ offense considering his ability as a dual-threat quarterback — in other words, New England could run option and wildcat-type formations. As far as the details of Kaepernick ’ s workout on Saturday are concerned, there isn’t much known.

Colin Kaepernick's agent said representatives from eight NFL teams were on hand for the free-agent quarterback's workout at a high school field Saturday, and their evaluations are rolling in.

Kaepernick made 60 scripted throws. No runs or combine-style drills were included in the workout.

"He was in good shape, as we thought he'd be. Arm strength was definitely still there and he had some real zip on the ball. But he had some accuracy issues on his deep throws. Good enough to be on a roster, likely backup level," one talent evaluator said in their scouting report, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Report: NFL won't give Kaepernick list of showcase attendees After initially stating it would do so, the NFL has decided not to provide Colin Kaepernick with a list of personnel executives and coaches attending his workout in Atlanta on Saturday, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Colin Kaepernick , the embattled former San Francisco 49ers quarterback who's been out of the league since 2016, held a workout on Saturday for several teams -- and it wasn't without controversy. Kaepernick ' s reps said they wanted to move the location of the workout so media could attend.

"He was in good shape and he has fastball. The velocity was real good. Accuracy and touch were inconsistent. On deep balls, he was ordinary. He can still run well. Essentially average overall," another evaluator noted.

"Good showing. Thought he looked like he did when he was last on the field," said another.

In 2016 - his last season in the NFL - Kaepernick threw for 2,241 yards, 16 touchdowns, and four interceptions in 12 games (11 starts). He finished that campaign with a 90.7 passer rating.

He also ran the ball 69 times for 468 yards and two touchdowns while losing three fumbles.
