A scary incident occurred at Calgary Flames practice on Thursday, as defenseman TJ Brodie collapsed and started convulsing, according to CTV's Glenn Campbell. Flames general manager Brad Treliving released the following statement: "TJ Brodie experienced an episode on ice at practice today. He is alert and responsive and has been transported to local area hospital for evaluation. We will provide a further update when available. Thank you." Calgary Flames defenceman T.J. Brodie skated for the first time since he collapsed on the ice during a practice one week ago.
“T.J. has been working out for the past several days and today skated on his own under the supervision of our medical staff,” Flames general manager Brad Treliving said in a statement. “Over this past week he has had consultations with appropriate specialists in Calgary. To date all medical evaluations and testing have been reassuring.
“We still work to complete final testing and are optimistic he will re-join the team in the near future. TJ has been placed on injury reserve retroactive to Nov. 14.”

Brodie collapsed in practice on Nov. 14. He was rushed to hospital but released later that same day.
Inon Nov. 15, Flames team physician Dr. Ian Auld said Brodie is out of danger and that while more tests needed to be done, it appeared that the defenceman may have fainted.
“The reasons for why people faint are many, and dehydration certainly could be one of them,” Dr. Auld said. “At this point we don’t have all the information – we still have a few more tests to go – but it’s very likely related more to a fainting episode than it is something significant inside the brain.”
