Report: Giants fire Shurmur after 2 seasons .
The New York Giants fired head coach Pat Shurmur on Monday after two seasons with the team, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports. The Giants went 5-11 under Shurmur in 2018 and then 4-12 this season. New York will now begin its third head coaching search in the last five years. General manager Dave Gettleman, who hired alongside Shurmur, will be retained, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Shurmur is the second straight Giants head coach to be fired after two seasons in charge. Ben McAdoo, who took over for longtime bench boss Tom Coughlin, was let go after going 13-15 across 2016 and '17.Under Shurmur, New York's offense experienced modest improvement.
