A turbulent brawl overshadowed the No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks' 81-60 victory over the Kansas State Wildcats on Tuesday.

The benches cleared after Jayhawks big man Silvio De Sousa appeared to mock Wildcats guard DaJuan Gordon in the dying seconds of the game, prompting absolute mayhem to break out.

Kansas head coach Bill Self acknowledged postgame he'll be penalizing his players for their role in the fight.

The conduct of a few of our student-athletes at the conclusion of tonight's game vs. Kansas State was simply unacceptable and not reflective of who we are. Coach Self and I will review the incident, along with the Big 12 Conference and Kansas State to determine appropriate consequences. There is no place for this conduct in college athletics or here at KU. I would like to apologize to the Big 12 Conference, Kansas State University, Gene Taylor, Bruce Weber and all fans for the lack of sportsmanship from members of our team this evening.

Kansas coach Bill Self spoke strong words about his team’s late-game actions during a fight with Kansas State players Tuesday, calling the incident an “ embarrassment ” while promising punishments would be coming for his players Wednesday.

Following Self's media session, Kansas State head coach Bruce Weber took responsibility for his team's role in the incident.

Lost in all the dramatics, Christian Braun scored a career-high 20 points for the Jayhawks while Devon Dotson chipped in 18 to help Kansas improve to 15-3 on the season.

Meanwhile, the loss dropped Kansas State's record to 8-10.

Kansas head coach Bill Self announced Wednesday that he's suspended forward Silvio De Sousa indefinitely pending the result of a review of Tuesday's brawl between the Jayhawks and Kansas State, according to the Kansas City Star's Gary Bedore. "I have suspended Silvio De Sousa indefinitely pending the final outcome of the review by KU and the Big 12 Conference," Self said. "As I said last night, we are disappointed in his actions and there is no place in the game for that behavior."The fracas unfolded in the waning seconds of Kansas' 81-60 win.
