The Los Angeles Chargers and head coach Anthony Lynn agreed to a contract extension this past week, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Lynn, who was entering the last year of his current deal in 2020, now has "multiple years" remaining on his contract. He signed the extension shortly before the Super Bowl, a source told Schefter.

The 51-year-old bench boss joined the Chargers in 2017 after spending one campaign with the Buffalo Bills, for whom he worked as an assistant head coach, running backs coach, and offensive coordinator. Lynn was also the Bills' interim head coach for one game in 2016.

Lynn has a 26-22 record after three full seasons in Los Angeles. The Chargers won 12 games in 2018 and reached the postseason, but they weren't able to repeat their successful campaign in 2019, posting their worst record since 2016 (5-11).

Darnell Nurse, Oilers discussing extension .
Anything approaching $6 million might be a reasonable amount to pay for Nurse, but it also will complicate things for the Oilers. Edmonton already has more than $63 million committed to just 13 players for next season, not leaving the Oilers a lot of wiggle room to fit in support pieces. Both Matt Benning and Ethan Bear also need new contracts as restricted free agents, while there also needs to be an upgrade on the wing up front.Still, the fact that Nurse wants to stick around bodes well for an organization that has had trouble convincing players to do just that in the past.
