  Auger-Aliassime advances to second round in Montpellier with win over Dzumhur MONTPELLIER, France — Montreal's Felix Auger-Aliassime advanced to the second round of the Open Sud de France on Tuesday with a 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-2 win over qualifier Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Auger-Aliassime is seeded fifth at the ATP Tour 250 tennis tournament, played on an indoor hardcourt surface. The Canadian came back from double break point in the final game to cement the victory. It was the first meeting between Auger-Aliassime, ranked No. 21 in the world, and No. 97 Dzumhur. Auger-Aliassime had 11 aces in the match and converted six of his 14 break-point opportunities. He also faced six break points, saving four of them.

On Thursday, Vasek Pospisil was unable to carry the momentum from his upset of the No. 1 seed in the Rotterdam Open, Daniil Medvedev, into the second round, falling in straight sets, 4-6 6-7(7), to Serbian Filip Krajinovic.

After dropping the first set, and trailing 3-5 in the second, Pospisil was able to win three straight games, including breaking Krajinovic to take a 6-5 lead.

The Canadian was even evaluated by doctors during the set for experiencing cramps. Despite that, he still pulled off a stunning game-winner, keeping his comeback alive.

Pospisil saved three match points as the second set went to a tiebreak, but Krajinovic sealed the match on the fourth opportunity. The 29-year-old is 5-4 on the year and currently ranked No. 104 according to ATP rankings.

Krajinovic is ranked No. 39 in the world and was coming off a semifinal loss in the Open de Sud France tournament, the same tournament in which Pospisil went to the final and lost to Gael Monfils.

Pospisil's loss means Felix Auger-Aliassime is the lone Canadian representative in the quarterfinals of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. He is scheduled to face Slovenian and world No. 52 Aljaz Bedene on Friday.
