While we're all sitting on our couches during the coronavirus pandemic watching , Britney Spears is putting in work.
The pop star has been running a lot during her stay at home. She's been running so much that she set a new world record. According to Spears, she recently ran a 5.97 in the 100-meter dash.

For those unfamiliar with top 100-meter dash times, let's look at the world records for that event.
- Men: Usain Bolt, 9.58 seconds (set in 2009)
- Women: Florence Griffith Joyner, 10.49 seconds (set in 1988)
As you can now see, the time set by Spears is truly remarkable. Even more incredible is the fact she claims she usually runs a "6 or 7" — which means she's been breaking the world record over and over again, but has kept it to herself before she eventually hit 5.97. What a truly humble individual.
Stocks rise despite record surge in weekly jobless claims
Stocks opened higher on Thursday even after the release of record-breaking initial jobless claims sparked by the coronavirus pandemic. The Dow was up more than 500 points, or 2.7%. The S&P 500 gained 2.6% while the Nasdaq advanced 2.2%. Boeing, JPMorgan Chase and Intel drove the Dow’s gains, rising at least 3%. Industrials and health care were the best-performing sectors in the S&P 500 as the both traded more than 2% higher. The Labor Department said Thursday unemployment benefit claims soared to 3.28 million last week, a record. That number blew past the Great Recession peak of 695,000.
And Spears not only broke the record, but shattered it. Even if you double her time, it comes out to 11.94, which is near what thewere in the 1970s. Breaking the 100-meter dash world record by four seconds is simply unheard of.
Her dominance eventually made its way to Twitter, where fans continued to be in amazement of her achievement.
Britney Spears claiming to have broken the 100m world record by nearly four seconds is my favourite self-isolation content of the week so far— Andy Ha (@AndyHa_)
Alright, well I was doing sprints in my back yard. I could see the people saying, 'if she tries the 100m, she'll take at least 20 seconds.' So I set up my starting blocks and they said, 'she'll definitely take 20 seconds'. I did it in 5.97 and said, 'what were you worried about?'
1 in 3 Canadians worry they'll miss rent or mortgage payment due to COVID-19 — survey
In addition to its serious health consequences, COVID-19 is causing Canadians to worry about their financial health, according to a survey commissioned by the Angus Reid Institute. The results suggest the virus outbreak is already having a major impact on Canadians' finances. More than a third (34 per cent) of respondents said they were worried about missing a rent or mortgage payment this month because of the virus, which has caused widespread layoffs and a drastic reduction in the amount of paid work available for those lucky enough to have kept their jobs.— Andy Ha (@AndyHa_)
