Sports Pol Espargaro: "Zarco had too high expectations at KTM"
Shopify suspends guidance, indicates it banned thousands of users for COVID-19 profiteering
Ottawa-based e-commerce giant Shopify Inc. announced Wednesday that it is suspending financial guidance as the coronavirus pandemic upends its business, and the company will give more detail on how business is evolving when it reports first-quarter earnings on May 6. Shopify said it is seeing merchants offer major discounts, and the company was forced to suspend thousands of accounts for making false claims or otherwise profiteering by selling hand sanitizer or face masks.
"Zarco set his expectations at KTM too high," said Pol Espargaroabout his former teammate. The Spaniard also believes it was wrong for the French to leave the team during the season because patience can pay off.
A tenth place in Barcelona in the 2019 season was Johann Zarco's best result at the KTM. In addition, he shone in Brno in the partly wet qualifying with third place on the grid. Otherwise Zarco usually could not cope with the driving behavior of the KTM. The mood in the team was not the best.
At the Austrian Grand Prix, the Frenchman finally asked for the premature termination of the two-year contract at the end of 2019. He then drove to Silverstone and Misano. Then KTM pulled him out of traffic and put test rider Mika Kallio on the motorcycle for the rest of the season.
Pol Espargaro: "Don't want to be in the same team with my brother"
Pol Espargaro doesn't want to race against his brother in the same class and certainly not in the same team - rivalry not conducive to personal relationships In the past few years, Aleix and Pol Espargaro the only brothers in MotoGP. With Alex and Marc Marquez there are now two more siblings who have made it into the premier class. The two Marquez brothers are teammates at Honda, while the two Espargaro brothers have never ridden for the same team. Pol couldn't imagine that either.
Zarco was caught up in reality
"Perhaps Johann thought that he should be much stronger and better than the results of [Bradley] Smith and me," Espargaro suspects. "When he came to us he realized that I wasn't doing it too badly. He was caught up in reality and became nervous."
"He wanted to finish it as soon as possible to find another way to save his career. I think it takes patience. You can't expect results in the first or second race. You just have to be on Lorenzo look at Ducati. "
"Zarco attacked away from training. He was quick but one mistake was enough to get him in trouble," Espargaro thinks of the many falls.throughout the 2019 season, even though he had missed three races due to the KTM separation.
That's why Espargaro says: "Experience and patience count. In the end, KTM and Zarco found a deal that suited them both. It is better that way." When there was a chance in autumn that the Frenchman could race for another manufacturer, KTM didn't put any obstacles in the way.
At the end of 2019, Zarco drove the last three Grand Prix at LCR-Honda to replace Takaaki Nakagami. He has signed a contract with Ducati for 2020 and will join the Avintia customer team.
