The Chicago Bears will be without a sizable figure in the middle of their defense after Eddie Goldman opted out of the 2020 NFL season.Goldman, 26, has been a standout starter in the middle of the Bears' defense since his arrival in 2015 as a second-round pick out of Florida State. He recorded 29 tackles and one sack last season and was selected as a Pro Bowl alternate.

The move comes two months after MLSthe 25-year-old following domestic abuse allegations.
MLS launched an independent investigation in June after the Frisco Police Department received a report that Gonzalez was involved in incidents of domestic abuse in the Dallas suburb.
At the time, the league said Gonzalez had voluntarily entered a program for substance abuse and behavioral health.
Gonzalez, who joined the FC Dallas youth academy as a 15-year-old, had been the team's No. 1 goalkeeper since 2017. He made 101 regular-season appearances for the club and started the team's opening two matches this year before play was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
