Tottenham Hotspur continue to be active in the transfer market.

The Premier League side is in talks with Inter Milan over a potential deal for defender Milan Skriniar, reports Fabrizio Romano of The Guardian. The two parties met in Milan on Wednesday to discuss the Slovakian center-back, who is valued by Inter at €60 million, Romano adds.

Spurs are unwilling to meet that valuation, though. They've reportedly offered around €50 million, including add-ons. Negotiations between the clubs are ongoing.

He has brought a teammate with him, too. Tottenham confirmed the season-long loan signing of Bale on Saturday in one of the most high-profile moves of the transfer window, minutes after announcing left back Sergio Reguilón is also joining from the Spanish champions. “It's such a special club to me,” the 31-year-old Bale said of Spurs, “it's where I made my name.” It was his dazzling displays for the London club that earned Bale the move to Madrid in 2013 for 100 million euros (then $132 million), a world-leading fee at the time.

If a deal can't be brokered for the 25-year-old, Tottenham could turn their attention to Benfica defender Ruben Dias, according to Romano.

Following the August departure of stalwart Jan Vertonghen, Jose Mourinho has identified central defense as a key area that requires strengthening. Eric Dier has featured in both matches of the new Premier League season, with Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez each earning one start alongside the versatile Englishman thus far.

In Skriniar, Spurs would be getting an imposing, technical player who has established himself as one of Serie A's best defenders in recent years.

Mourinho has been busy bolstering his squad after a slow start to the transfer window, adding Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Matt Doherty.
