Sports Bundesliga: Bayern: Davies regrets Ballon d'Or cancellation
Bayern Munich already looking too good for the Bundesliga
BERLIN — On the day the FIFA president warned about a lack of competition in club soccer, Bayern Munich started the German league by scoring a whopping eight goals. The Bavarian club routed Schalke 8-0 Friday and it could have been more but for a slew of missed chances. After half an hour, Bayern was up 3-0. By then, it was only a matter of how many the team would score. “The Bundesliga did not provide many arguments at the start that it should definitely continue to be watched — at least not when Bayern Munich is playing,” Berlin newspaper Der Tagesspiegel wrote. “The game was tediously boring.
shooting star Alphonso Davies from FC Bayern would have given his teammate Robert Lewandowski the world footballer title. The Canadian is sad that Lewy is denied the prestigious Ballon d'Or.
"Lewandowski is a player who enjoys scoring goals," said Davies in an interview with bundesliga.de . He added: "What disappoints us all is the fact that he cannot win the Ballon d'Or because the election has been canceled."

Davies raved about the 32-year-old goalgetter: "That was just his year, he won everything there was to win at club level. He was the best goalscorer and player."
Lewandowski was named the best player in Europe by UEFA on Thursday evening as part of the Champions League draw. The Pole was also given the best chances at the Ballon d'Or.
Due to the corona crisis, however, the award will not be given this year. Last year Lionel Messi won the golden ball for the sixth time.
Bayern, Hertha end transfer window with flurry of activity .
BERLIN — Bayern Munich ended the summer transfer period with a flurry of activity after failing to land its main targets to bolster its squad for a punishing schedule. Bayern announced on Monday the surprise signing of 31-year-old forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting from Paris Saint-Germain, brought back Brazilian winger Douglas Costa in a loan deal from Juventus, and signed defender Bouna Sarr from Marseille as a backup option for compatriot Benjamin Pavard. “Sarr is a dynamic right back who fits in very well with the way we approach our game,” Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidžic said.
