The NCAA Division I Council waived all win requirements for bowl eligibility on Wednesday as expected, leaving teams free to play in a bowl game regardless of their record. The decision accepts the recommendation of the Division I Football Oversight Committee.

Normally, bowl eligibility is reserved for teams with at least six wins, though there are exceptions. In the case of a scenario where there are fewer six-win teams than bowl spots, teams with a losing record may be selected based on academic criteria.
