Crennel had just been named interim head coach of the 0-4 Texans , who this past week fired Bill O’Brien after six-plus seasons in Houston. “ I ’ m just a football coach, and I enjoy coaching,’’ Crennel told reporters this week. “That’s why I ’ m still coaching.’’ Crennel , who has coached in the NFL since

"Like I told the players, I'm trying to win games, and I'm not trying to trade players," Crennel said, according to Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports. "So, I want to keep as many good players as I can."

Roster decisions won't be completely up to Crennel, as Jack Easterby - who is currently handling the club's GM duties - and others will also be involved in the process.

"They'll come to me and we'll sit down and we'll make a decision about what we think is best for the team," he said. "I've been informed of some possibilities but nothing definite right now."

With the D having a game like that..do you Crennel is safe now? I wonder if he Was ever in hit water same as Godsey, Hoyer couldn' t move the ball at times, always using his check downs, and I want to say the running game really hurting him. So it's all on his shoulders. How does everyone feel?

Houston is currently tied for last place in the AFC South with a 1-6 record. Without a first- or second-round pick, the Texans could opt to replenish their draft capital at the deadline. While they could be in a position to sell, Crennel won't let other teams take advantage of the Texans' poor start.

"I know the record doesn't say that we are very good, and we are what the record says we are, but we do have some talent," Crennel added. "I think other teams realize that and they would like to get their hands on it. But most of the time in this situation, they're offering peanuts and not offering legitimate trade value."

If the Texans do intend to sell this year, Will Fuller, Brandin Cooks, and Whitney Mercilus could be players that other teams target. Mercilus has recorded three sacks, while Fuller and Cooks have each contributed over 400 receiving yards this season.
