LaMelo Ball forgoes family's Big Baller Brand, signs with with Puma Distancing himself from his family-founded Big Baller Brand, LaMelo Ball on Wednesday signed a multiyear shoe deal with Puma. The shoe is set to launch on Nov. 18, the day of the NBA draft, where Ball is expected to be a top-five pick and potential No. 1.

The Minnesota Timberwolves met in person with potential No. 1 draft pick LaMelo Ball in Southern California on Tuesday, sources told ESPN's Jonathan Givony.

Timberwolves president Gersson Rosas and head coach Ryan Saunders both reportedly took part in the meeting.

Minnesota owns the first overall selection in the 2020 draft, which is scheduled to take place virtually for the first time from ESPN's studios on Nov. 18. Ball is widely projected to be a high draft pick. The 6-foot-7 point guard is ranked as ESPN's best available player, and recent mock drafts from theScore and The Athletic project Ball to go first overall.

What’s next for the NBA? Uncertainty surrounds draft, free agency and next season

What’s next for the NBA? Uncertainty surrounds draft, free agency and next season Even after the longest season in history, NBA can't take a vacation. League faces questions on free agency, salary cap, luxury tax and next season. The NBA just concluded the 2019-20 season, which lasted an additional three months in a campus bubble after the league suspended operations for four months because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Golden State Warriors, owners of the No. 2 pick, are also tentatively scheduled to meet with Ball next week, according to Givony.

Ball, 19, played in the Australian National Basketball League last season. He registered 17 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 1.7 steals per game in 12 games and the league named him the competition's 2019-20 Rookie of the Year.

The Timberwolves have not indicated who they intend to select with their top pick, with Rosas stating last week that no player "has separated himself from the pack." While Ball is the presumed No. 1 selection, Minnesota already boasts a starting-caliber point guard in D'Angelo Russell, whom they acquired from the Warriors in February.
