Randy Arozarena has slugged his way onto the silver screen.

The Tampa Bay Rays outfielder, who was the breakout star of the MLB playoffs, will soon be immortalized in a biopic that Wonderfilm Media is producing, according to Etan Vlessing of The Hollywood Reporter.

Brad Gann, who penned the 2006 film "Invincible" starring Mark Wahlberg, will write the screenplay. Production is slated to begin late next year.

"Randy's story is so inspirational - his journey grabs at your heart and this film will explore the triumphs of the human spirit when driven and focused," Wonderfilm's Bret Saxon said in a statement.

Arozarena was a teenage star player in his native Cuba before sailing on a raft to Mexico to defect as a 19-year-old. The St. Louis Cardinals signed Arozarena out of Mexico, then traded him to the Rays this past January.

After establishing himself with an excellent rookie season, Arozarena morphed into a superstar during the Rays' run to the World Series. He hit .377/.442/.831, set single-playoff records for home runs (10) and hits (29), and was named ALCS MVP.
