  Coronavirus: 23 cases in London-Middlesex; 1 death, 16 cases in Huron-Perth Thursday's coronavirus update marks the seventh day in a row that the region has reported a double-digit COVID-19 case increase.Twenty-three more people have tested positive for the coronavirus while seven others have recovered, the Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) reported Thursday.

The Premier League can today confirm that between Monday July 20 and Sunday 26 July, 1,574 players and club staff were tested for COVID - 19 . The Premier League is providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency.

That figure represents a decrease from the previous round of testing, where 16 cases were detected from 1,207 checks from Nov. 9-15 - the highest number of positive cases in a week since the league began testing in mid-May.

Players and staff who return a positive test are obligated to self-isolate for a period of 10 days.

The Premier League's statement comes the same day U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that the current lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic is scheduled to end Dec. 2.

Johnson says up to 4,000 spectators will be allowed to attend some outdoor sporting events in low-risk areas after the government-enforced lockdown ends.

England's top tier continues to play behind closed doors after initial hopes that fans could return by Oct. 3. Those were put on hold when the U.K. government unveiled the three-tier lockdown protocol.
