Five teams snubbed from the USA TODAY Sports preseason men's basketball coaches poll

Five teams snubbed from the USA TODAY Sports preseason men's basketball coaches poll Some high-profile men's basketball teams missed the cut but are deserving of the preseason Top 25 based on their potential this season. While the votes for the poll are based on returning and incoming talent, and the strength of an overall program, there's always a handful of teams left out that were on the cusp of the top 25 and are deserving based on their potential.

Here's how the Heisman race stacks up as the calendar turns to November: 5. Jabrill Peppers, LB - Michigan. Peppers does it all for the Wolverines, and he scored a rushing touchdown against the Spartans to further strengthen his Heisman case.

That mixed bag of results among Heisman winners in the NFL means there are plenty of players who simply did not pan out as a pro. Here is a look at the biggest disappointments among recent Heisman winners in the NFL.

All of the Power 5 conferences are now in full swing, and the Heisman Trophy picture is taking shape.

• 65 catches, 903 yards, 10 TD, 13.9 yards per catch

Jaylen Waddle was the Alabama wideout turning heads during the first half of the campaign, but now Smith is blowing away defenses after his teammate's season-ending injury. Smith became the SEC's all-time leader in touchdown catches by adding two more in Saturday's blowout win over Kentucky. The Wildcats entered the game with the conference's best passing defense but had no answer for the standout senior. Smith is now second in the country with 10 touchdown receptions on the year, with at least two more regular-season contests to add to his total.

Baylor looking to make history when it starts season at No. 1

Baylor looking to make history when it starts season at No. 1 Baylor has never started the college basketball season at No. 1. With a talented roster returning, the Bears have hopes of making history this season.Within a few moments, his confidence beamed through the virtual wall separating him from a dozen media members. Drew let out a short, villainous laugh at the mention of one reporter receiving preferential treatment for wearing a tie to the Zoom meeting.

Since only one top Heisman Trophy candidate played a ranked opponent in Week 6, there aren't many changes in the race for college football's coveted As always, this is a critical note: The rankings are a reflection of Week 6 performances―nothing more, nothing less. The No . 1 player may not be the

Week 12 saw Joe Burrow solidify his Heisman Trophy campaign yet again. In fact, Caesars Sportsbook has pulled the Heisman odds off the board, and now currently offers a Yes -1400/No +800 prop But Jalen Hurts' comeback win keeps him a close second in our rankings , and Justin Fields isn't far behind.

4. Zach Wilson, QB, BYU

• 2,724 yards passing, 74% completion, 26 TD, 2 INT

Wilson is now third in the country in passing yardage despite recording almost 100 fewer throws than the two quarterbacks ahead of him. The BYU standout also ranks second with 26 touchdowns passes after registering four more in Saturday's blowout of North Alabama. There's no question that Wilson is among the country's top players, but the Cougars' lack of quality competition will make it difficult for him to move up the rankings. A rumored contest against Washington would certainly help.

3. Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

• 1,208 passing yards, 79.6% completion, 16 total TDs, 3 INT

Week 11 Fantasy RB Rankings: Must starts, sleepers, potential busts at running back

Week 11 Fantasy RB Rankings: Must starts, sleepers, potential busts at running back We're starting to get clarity on several committee running back situations, and that's going a long way toward strengthening our Week 11 fantasy RB rankings. If only we didn't have to worry about injuriesFortunately, the byes (49ers, Bills, Bears, Giants) aren't too bad this week. Only the Bears have a true lead back (and he's hurt), but the various committees for the other teams did provide some value flex plays most weeks. Without them, fantasy owners might have to dig a little deeper or embrace other committee situations.

When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Florida State's Jameis Winston with the No . 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft The 49ers will get knocked for eternity for passing on Aaron Rodgers and drafting Smith at No . 1 overall instead in 2005 Heisman Trophy winners of past 25 years power rankings .

It's outrageous that Fields' 300-yard, two-touchdown outing in a win over a ranked team is considered a down performance, but it also highlights just how good the Ohio State star has been. Indiana forced the Buckeyes quarterback into three interceptions Saturday, the same amount he'd thrown in his entire career entering play. Fields might be the country's most talented player, but he's running out of games to win the Heisman. Additionally, the rest of Ohio State's schedule lacks a top-level opponent, something the two guys ranked ahead of him don't have to worry about.

2. Mac Jones, QB, Alabama

• 2,426 passing yards, 77.1% completion, 18 TD, 3 INT

Jones completed 16 of 24 passes for 230 yards with two touchdowns against one interception in a 63-3 blowout win over Kentucky on the weekend. The funniest part? It was statistically the Alabama quarterback's worst game of the season. He failed to complete over 74% of his passes for the first time this year, and he threw his first interception since Oct. 17. However, Jones continues to lead all Power 5 passers with an average of over 12 yards per completion, and he remains second to Fields with a 77% completion rate. He can make a big statement to reclaim the top spot with a strong showing in this weekend's Iron Bowl against a strong Auburn defense.

1. Kyle Trask, QB, Florida

• 2,554 passing yards, 70.7% completion, 31 TD, 3 INT

Trask now stands alone in SEC history for the most touchdown passes through seven games of a season. The Florida quarterback - who has now thrown a whopping 31 scores this year - registered three touchdowns Saturday to pass Tim Couch and Joe Burrow. He sits five ahead of the next closest quarterback for touchdown passes this season and is 13 ahead of Jones. Trask has three contests left to pad his stats before a likely SEC title game with Alabama. That matchup would not only decide the conference champion, but also the Heisman race between Trask and Jones.
