Josh Gordon of the Seattle Seahawks is allowed to play in the NFL again. The league announced on Thursday. However, the wide receiver's return from a substance abuse lockdown is conditional.

Gordon is only eligible to play from week 16, but may not join the team before December 9th. Gordon can start the mandatory Covid-19 tests on Friday.

If the tests are negative, he can then take part in meetings, meet individually with the coaching staff and work in the team building in the weight room. However, the 29-year-old should not start training until December 21st.

Gordon was banned indefinitely as a repeat offender in December 2019 for violating the performance-enhancing drug and substance abuse guidelines.

The Seahawks signed Gordon, who came to Seattle from the New England Patriots the previous year via Trade, again in September 2020. Since then he has been waiting to get a license to play from Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Previously, Gordon had missed the 2015 and 2016 seasons due to similar offenses.
