February is poised to be a big month for DAZN subscribers, with no less than SIX big cards of live boxing action that concludes with the latest outing for pound-for-pound megastar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.
Alvarez returns two months after beating Callum Smith in December for the WBA (Super), WBC, and The Ring belts, and his quest for undisputed glory at 168lb in 2021 begins with a mandatory defence against Avni Yildirim on Saturday, Feb. 27 from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Meanwhile, Matchroom Boxing was unable to promote live action in January, with the British Boxing Board of Control temporarily suspending all events for the month due to the coronavirus pandemic prompting a second serious lockdown in the UK.
Montreal's Steven Butler returns to the ring after 13-month layoff
Like many professional boxers, Steven Butler had to endure seeing his career put on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic — at a time and age when he wanted to remain active. Coming off a world-title loss, the Montreal middleweight has had 13 months to contemplate what went wrong. The time away from the ring also allowed Butler to have surgery to repair a nerve in his left eye. And, like many fighters coming off a crucial defeat, to change trainers. If Butler is new and improved, the first signs might be evident Friday, when he meets Mexico’s Jose de Jesus Macias in the 10-round main event of a boxing card in Cuernavaca, Mexico.
But they are back starting on Feb. 13 with Josh Warrington facing off with Mauricio Lara, and one week later the postponed January bout between David Avanesyan and Josh Kelly for the former's European welterweight strap will finally happen.
Another postponed contest pits New Zealand stars Joseph Parker and Junior Fa against one another in Auckland, with the winner likely to move into the conversation of world heavyweight championship opportunities once Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury stage their huge unification clash later in the year.

Montreal middleweight Steven Butler stopped in fifth round by Macias
The end came suddenly. The result wasn’t necessarily expected. And now, the future of Steven Butler must be questioned. Fighting for the first time in 13 months, coming off eye surgery and with a new trainer in his corner Butler, the Montreal middleweight, suffered his second consecutive defeat by knockout. The 25-year-old was stopped by Jose de Jesus Macias, 25 seconds into the fifth round of their scheduled 10-round main event, Friday night in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Butler, who sustained an injury to his right hand earlier in the bout, was hit with an overhand right in the opening seconds of the fifth round.
