Usman is riding a 16-fight winning streak and has yet to lose during his tenure in the UFC since winning "The Ultimate Fighter" in 2015. Burns has been on a roll since returning to the welterweight division in 2019. He has won four straight in dominant fashion, with victories over Tyron Woodley, Demian Maia, Gunnar Nelson and Alexey Kunchenko. But Usman is, by far, his stiffest test to date.

Usman and Burns are familiar with each other as training partners, but nothing can simulate the feel of an actual fight with high stakes.

Will Usman extend his winning streak and begin chipping away at Georges St-Pierre's status of being the greatest welterweight of all time? Or will Burns hand Usman his first loss and begin a new era in the 170-pound division?

Ken Burns, Lynn Novick Dissect Ernest Hemingway’s Work, Image, “Complicated” Sexuality In PBS Documentary ‘Hemingway’ — TCA Directors Ken Burns and Lynn Novick are promising a “nuanced” portrait of Ernest Hemingway in their three-part, six-hour documentary on the Nobel Prize-winning author coming to PBS in April. Speaking at the PBS Winter Press Tour session Tuesday, Burns said the film deconstructs Hemingway’s image as a “hyper-masculine” archetype. “We were drawn at trying to get at a real Hemingway and I think the persona of the wild man, the drunk, the bar guy, the big game hunter, the big sea fisherman is sort of what we inherit, the baggage we carry. But almost immediately we began to see how thin and frail that was, not just for him but in fact.

12:32 a.m.: It's main event time! Former teammates Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns will clash for Usman's welterweight title. Can Burns pull off the upset or will Usman add another name to his growing resume.

12:23 a.m.: Alexa Grasso earned the unanimous decision over Maycee Barber after enduring a third round when she had to fend off her opponent.  After a solid first round, the second frame saw Grasso showcase an impressive ground game by sweeping Barber and nearly sinking in an arm triangle choke. But Barber cranked up the pressure in the final round and landed several hard strikes while mixing in a few leg trip takedowns to keep  Grasso on the defensive end. But Grasso already having two rounds in the bank earned her the victory and a place in the women's flyweight division.

5 Things to Know About Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes

5 Things to Know About Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Game on! Patrick Mahomes is competing in his second consecutive Super Bowl on Sunday, February 7, and is ready to lead the Kansas City Chiefs to another victory. The 25-year-old Texas native was selected in the first round of the April 2017 NFL draft and started in his first game for the Chiefs eight months later. The following year, Mahomes was named the team’s official starting quarterback. Mahomes later earned the 2019 Best NFL Player ESPY Award and became the first-ever Chiefs player to win the NFL’s coveted MVP award. In February 2020, Mahomes and the Chiefs faced off against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV in Miami. The up-and-coming athlete helped his team win their first championship since Super Bowl IV in 1970. “We fought for our right to PAAAARTYYYY #chiefskingdom,” Mahomes’ now-fiancée, Brittany Matthews, gushed in a sweet social media post at the time as she celebrated her longtime love’s big victory. This year, Mahomes is returning to Florida for another shot at Super Bowl glory — and will be playing against one of his idols, Tom Brady. “Being able to go up against the one of the greatest, if not the greatest, quarterback of all-time in his 150th Super Bowl is gonna be a great experience for me,” Mahomes recently joked of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers player, 43, as they prepare to face off for the title. According to Fox Sports reporter Bruce Feldman, Mahomes was in kindergarten when Brady played — and won — his first Super Bowl in 2002.

Kamaru Usman makes his debut of the year against Gilbert Burns at the UFC APEX Center. The stacked UFC 258 card is headlined by a fight between former teammates against former teammates. "The Nigerian Nightmare" will make his third title defence against ranked contender "Durinho". The pair were planned to face-off last year and is now set to go head-to-head as UFC 258 returns to Sin City.

Third time is a charm! The UFC 258 main event between welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and challenger Gilbert Burns is official following Friday's weigh-in. The bout was first canceled after Burns contracted COVID-19. It was rescheduled, but then postponed when Usman wasn't physically ready for the bout. Having made it through Friday's weigh-in, albeit with a bit of a breath-holding moment, Usman vs . Burns should take place as scheduled on Saturday at The Apex in Las Vegas.

12:01 a.m.: The co-main event is up next as Maycee Barber makes her return after a devastating knee injury to face Alexa Grasso. They call Maycee "The Future" but will Grasso make her a thing of the past?

11:49 p.m.: Gastelum finds himself back on the winning track with a dominant performance against Heinisch to earn the unanimous decision. A combination of wrestling and striking put Gastelum back in the win column with scores of 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28. There wasn't much that Heinsich could do to stop the takedowns and it spelled out his demise over the course of three rounds.

11:28 p.m.: Kelvin Gastelum aims to end a three-fight skid when he faces Ian Heinisch next. Since getting his attempt at UFC gold in an interim fight against Israel Adesanya, Gastelum has lost three straight. He desperately needs to win here but Heinisch aims to shut down his opponent tonight and prove his worth as a middleweight contender.

Illness forces Canadian Gillian (The Savage) Robertson off UFC 258 undercard LAS VEGAS — Illness forced Canadian flyweight Gillian (The Savage) Robertson off the UFC 258 undercard Saturday night. The UFC did not specify the illness other than to say it was not COVID-19 related. Robertson's bout against American Miranda (Fear The) Maverick was cancelled. The main event at the UFC's Apex production facility pitted welterweight champion Kamara (The Nigerian Nightmare) Usman against Gilbert (Durinho) Burns, ranked No. 1 among 170-pound contenders.Robertson, a 25-year-old native of Niagara Falls, Ont., who makes her home in Port Saint Lucie, Fla., was hoping to bounce back from a unanimous decision loss to Brazilian Taila Santos on Dec.

10:53 p.m.: Up next is a fight that was originally set to be on the UFC Fight Pass prelims but was bumped up after Bobby Green passed out before the weigh-in for his fight with Jim Miller. Brian Kelleher faces Ricky Simon in a featherweight showdown.

10:49 p.m.: A wild back and forth battle between Pitolo and Marquez ends with Julian Marquez sinking in a d'arce choke in the third round to submit Marquez. Pitolo was seemingly heading to victory in a fantastic middleweight fight. But the final round saw two extremely gassed out fighters give it their all. Unfortunately for Pitolo, Marquez had a little more as he sucked it up, fired a late salvo of strikes and managed to sink in the anaconda choke with just under a minute left in the fight.

10:15 p.m.: We're live with the main card of UFC 258. A middleweight showdown between Maki Pitolo and Julian Marquez kicks off the PPV.

9:51 p.m: Well, we shouldn't doubt Hernandez after this performance. Viera seemingly had the fight in hand with a dominant first two minutes. But he was unable to get Hernandez out of there and saw his opponent reinvigorated. Hernandez survived the chain submission attempts and rocked Viera with strikes late in the round. With Viera completely exhausted, Fluffy Hernandez poured it on with a bevy of strikes before sinking in a guillotine for the submission in the second round.

Sam Burns sets big target with another low round at Riviera

Sam Burns sets big target with another low round at Riviera LOS ANGELES — Sam Burns wanted to pay respect to tough Riviera by playing it safe. It led to a 5-under 66 to tie the 36-hole record at the Genesis Invitational and build a five-shot lead among early starters Friday. Burns kept his bogey-free day in tact toward the end of the round when he came up short of the eighth green, his 17th of the morning. He chipped it about 10 feet short — anything too strong could lead to big trouble — and made the par putt. He also handled two of the par 5s, and picked up so much roll on the firm turf at the 476-yard 12th hole that he had only a pitching wedge into the green and made a 5-foot putt.

9:39 p.m.: To close out the UFC 258 prelims the undefeated Rodolfo Viera aims to keep his unbeaten MMA record intact against Anthony Hernandez in a middleweight showdown.

9:33 p.m.: Muhammad's pressure was simply too much for Lima to overcome in this one. Muhammad earned a one-sided unanimous decision with scores of 30-27 across the board. This will certainly see Muhammad climb the rankings and someone in the top 10 will get their name called for him next.

The judges scored it 30-27, 30-27, 30-26 for Davis, who used her grappling skills to blunt Mazo's striking talent. The 36-year-old Davis (20-10-0), who had shoulder surgery in early 2020, came into the bout on a three-fight losing streak. The 23-year-old Mazo (9-2-0) had won her last three fights.
