Stu Cowan: Scoring comes naturally to Habs marksman Tyler Toffoli
Tyler Toffoli just looks like a goal-scorer. One of those guys when you’re playing against a team you’ve never seen before at any level of hockey, you look at him and say: “We better watch that guy.” It might be as simple as the way they wear their helmet, the number on their sweater or the way they skate and/or shoot during a pre-game warmup. They just have that look. So far this season, Toffoli has looked very good in a No. 73 Canadiens sweater, scoring 10 goals in the first 15 games since signing a four-year, US$17-million contract as a free agent during the off-season. It’s hard to teach someone to be a goal-scorer.

Bullpen additions for Twins don't mean demotion for Rogers
MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Twins bolstered their bullpen this winter by signing two pitchers with ninth-inning experience, including the most recent closer for their primary division rival. Adding Hansel Robles and Alex Colomé doesn't mean the Twins have demoted Taylor Rogers, though, despite a rough 2020 that was his worst of five seasons in the majors. They won't designate one reliever for a permanent ninth-inning role, in keeping with their practice over manager Rocco Baldelli's first two years. They're also confident the struggles Rogers endured last season were more statistical fluke than warning sign. “We didn't think Taylor had a bad season.

Flu away: Scientists baffled at disappearance of influenza — RT Op-edThey “overwhelmingly agree ” that this is so; their certainty is remarkable at this early stage. But why would these measures have worked so unintentionally well for flu, which has been with us for millennia, but Covid cases are still skyrocketing? Do masks let one particle through and stop another? The proponents of this theory have an explanation. They claim that people with Covid are more contagious than those with flu. It has a longer ‘incubation period’ than flu does, and its ‘R rate’ is three times higher than that of flu. But even if all of these estimates were right, there is still the unanswered question of
