Remembering Chadwick Boseman: Colleagues Reflect As His Final Performances Generate Oscar Talk Chadwick Boseman’s death in August, at the age of 43, shocked friends and colleagues who made recent films with him as much as it did fans around the world who mourned the passing of the actor who in a relatively short time played Black Panther, James Brown, Jackie Robinson and Thurgood Marshall. His colleagues still shake their heads in disbelief at the craft of his performances in two Oscar season movies, delivered while he was in the final throes of his fight against cancer. “I celebrate the man,” says Denzel Washington, who produced Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, George C.

New Canadiens coach Dominique Ducharme looks calm, cool and confident

“I feel prepared,” Ducharme said. “When you’re prepared, you sit down at school, you get your exam, you don’t care what the questions are going to be. You’re ready to answer. You’re pretty nervous when you’re not ready, when you didn’t study. So I feel comfortable. I feel ready. I’m confident in the group, I’m confident in the guys I’m working with and I’m ready to go.” Ducharme takes over from Claude Julien, who was fired Wednesday morning after the Canadiens went 2-4-2 in their last eight games, dropping to fourth place in the North Division with a 9-5-4 record.

Vaccine plan hinders Montreal seniors with mobility issues, groups say

“We were surprised to hear that the minister of health said he was counting on community groups to accompany and transport people with mobility issues,” said Marie-Andrée Painchaud, co-ordinator at Regroupement intersectoriel des organismes communautaires de Montréal (RIOCM). The COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by Pfizer-BioNTech can’t be moved once delivered to mass vaccination sites, which means health-care workers won’t be able to visit the homes of shut-ins or those with mobility issues and immunize them. “We know the groups will do the best they can, but we fear it won’t be good enough and the groups won’t be able to answer to all the needs out there,” Painchaud said.

Canadiens will keep paying Claude Julien $5 million for another season

Associate coach Kirk Muller, who was also fired Wednesday, was in the final season of his contract. This is the second time owner Geoff Molson has had to continue paying a fired coach with Bergevin as GM. When Michel Therrien was replaced by Julien in 2017, the former had another two full seasons remaining on his contract. “I’m well aware of what you just mentioned,” Bergevin said during a video conference from Winnipeg Wednesday afternoon when Julien’s contract was brought up. “I did tell Geoff what I was doing and he supported my decision. That’s all I could say.”
