NFL Mock Draft 2021: Here's what happens when we let Madden simulate the picks
What if we let the virtual GMs decide the outcome of the 2021 NFL Draft? Here's how our experiment went down.Experts will break down team needs, watch film of the top college prospects and predict (to the best of their ability) where players will get drafted. We're going to be doing none of that in this mock draft. Here, we're going to set everything up so that the virtual GMs and coaches in "Madden 21" will be making the picks for us.
Here is a 2021 NFL draft pick-by-pick breakdown for the Minnesota Vikings:
Round 1 (No. 23 overall, from Seahawks through Jets) - Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech: The All-ACC selection should replace departed Riley Reiff on a line that allowed 39 sacks in 2020. And Minnesota picks up a pair of third-rounders from the Jets to move down nine spots.
2021 NFL draft: Live stream, how to watch Rounds 2 and 3, time, everything you need to know
The 2021 NFL draft continues with Rounds 2-3 on Friday. USA TODAY Sports has you covered with everything you need to know. The draft opened as everybody had expected, with the Jacksonville Jaguars selecting Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 overall pick. In all, five quarterbacks were selected in the first round.
Round 3 (66, from Jets) - Kellen Mond, QB, Texas A&M: Intriguing prospect who won Senior Bowl MVP honors after steadily improving throughout his college career. Finished with 71 TDs and 27 INTs for the Aggies and is a much better athlete than Minnesota starter Kirk Cousins. Mond, who had 9,661 passing yards in college and 1,609 on the ground will get time to develop here but could maybe push to play eventually given Cousins is only under contract through 2022.
Cincinnati Bengals draft picks 2021: Round-by-round selections
Here is a 2021 NFL draft pick-by-pick breakdown for the Cincinnati Bengals.Round 1 (No. 5 overall) - Ja'Marr Chase, WR, LSU: Strong case to be made here for an offensive tackle in the aftermath of the ACL injury that prematurely ended 2020 No. 1 pick Joe Burrow's rookie season. But apparently a more compelling case to reunite Burrow with his main weapon from LSU's 2019 title team, when Chase established himself as the best wideout in college football.
Round 3 (78) - Chazz Surratt, LB, North Carolina: A former quarterback, he became an all-ACC linebacker who could push for a role behind Eric Kendricks and Anthony Barr, who missed 14 games last year.
San Francisco 49ers draft picks 2021: Round-by-round selections
Here is a 2021 NFL draft pick-by-pick breakdown for the San Francisco 49ers.Round 1 (No. 3 overall, from Texans through Dolphins) - Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State: A pick that's changed hands three times, the Niners made their bold acquisition of it last month ... and it was quickly followed by rampant speculation that they would take Alabama's Mac Jones. But going with Lance, who has far more upside than Jones given his physical skills, seems like the better option given the franchise surrendered three first-rounders to get him.
Round 3 (86, from Seahawks through Jets) - Wyatt Davis, OG, Ohio State: The grandson, ironically, of a Packers great –. But Minnesota fans generally – and RB Dalvin Cook specifically – will love having Wyatt Davis and his crushing blocks on a new-look O-line.
Los Angeles Rams draft picks 2021: Round-by-round selections
Here is a 2021 NFL draft pick-by-pick breakdown for the Los Angeles Rams.Round 2 (No. 57 overall) - Tutu Atwell, WR, Louisville: Welcome to the draft, L.A., which gave up its first-rounder in the Jalen Ramsey deal. Atwell may only be 5-9 while hovering near 150 pounds, but his speed could bring another dimension to an offense that already added DeSean Jackson. An all-ACC selection in 2019 when he led the conference with 1,272 receiving yards, Atwell should use every ounce of QB Matthew Stafford's arm strength.
Round 3 (90, from Ravens) - Patrick Jones II, DE, Pittsburgh: Minnesota needed edge rush to supplement Danielle Hunter for what coach Mike Zimmer called last year the "worst" defense he'd ever fielded in the NFL.
