2021 Coaches Survey: FBS coaches anonymously weigh in on NIL, transfer portal, playoff expansion and more

2021 Coaches Survey: FBS coaches anonymously weigh in on NIL, transfer portal, playoff expansion and more Sporting News polled FBS coaches on all the hot-button topics in college football. Here are their anonymous answers. The COVID-19 pandemic and transfer portal have impacted roster management for the 2021 season and beyond. The 12-team College Football Playoff proposal, a response to the dominance of a handful of schools in the four-team era, shook up the summer. Then Texas and Oklahoma's move to the Southeastern Conference kick-started another potential realignment shuffle.

In the SEC, it just means more. And in 2021, that includes more ways for fans to watch games online without the need for a cable subscription.

College football's most powerful Power 5 conference has no shortage of online streaming services for fans to keep up with their favorite teams, from Bowling Green at Tennessee on Sept. 2 to the SEC Championship game on Dec. 4 — and nearly everything else in between.

The SEC will have plenty of talking points in 2021, starting first and foremost with defending national champion Alabama, which is breaking in yet another talented-yet-unproven quarterback in Bryce Young. There's also Texas A&M, which will look to finally make the jump under national title-winning coach Jimbo Fisher (who also will aim to be the first Nick Saban disciple to beat the future Hall of Famer). The East once again revolves around Florida and Georgia, but who knows what storylines will emerge during the 2021 season?

Comparing Yahoo!, ESPN fantasy football rankings for 2021 to find sleepers, busts

Comparing Yahoo!, ESPN fantasy football rankings for 2021 to find sleepers, busts Fantasy football rankings on sites like ESPN and Yahoo! can vary greatly, so if you play on more than one, you need to study the differences to help put together the proper draft strategy and find sleepers and busts. The constantly updated consensus rankings at Fantasy Pros are a helpful composite, but chances are you will be drafting and playing a lot of fantasy football leagues on either Yahoo! or ESPN. Although Yahoo! defaults to half-point PPR and ESPN goes with standard, there are some intriguing differences between both sites' main rankings, so if you play on both, you must be able to find different sleepers and need to utilize different draft strategies.

Sporting News has you covered on how to watch all those games and keep up with all those storylines, all without the need for a cable subscription:

How to live stream SEC football games

Cord-cutters have myriad ways to get their SEC fix. Several games will air not only on the considerably large ABC family of networks, but also Fox and CBS, all of which have their own dedicated streaming sites. The SEC Network will also broadcast several games as well, falling under ABC for streaming purposes.

Here's a rundown of how to stream the 2021 SEC season, which starts on Sept. 2 and runs through the conference championship game on Dec. 4

National broadcasts

The SEC will have several national broadcasts throughout the year on the ABC family of networks (including ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU), Fox and CBS.

Because these contests are not governed by conference scheduling, these so-called “guarantee” games are set up under contracts negotiated between individual schools. Deals for non-conference games almost always include an appearance payment to the visiting team.

Games appearing on ABC or ESPN will stream on the ESPN app and the ESPN website. Fox will stream games at Fox Sports Go or its website. All 15 CBS games will stream on Paramount+ — a rebrand of CBS All Access — in 2021.

fuboTV

Every SEC game that appears on the aforementioned stations and the SEC Network will also be available to stream on fuboTV, which offers a free seven-day trial to new subscribers. That accounts for all but one of the conference's 39 games through Week 3 of the 2021 season.

ESPN+

Several SEC games throughout the season will only be available on ESPN's dedicated streaming site, ESPN+. The site's rates start at $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year.

Those games, through the first three weeks of the season, are:

  • Rice at Arkansas (Sept. 4)
  • Akron at Auburn (Sept. 4)
  • Eastern Illinois at South Carolina (Sept. 4)
  • ETSU at Vanderbilt (Sept. 4)
  • Austin Peay at Ole Miss (Sept. 11)
  • McNeese State at No. 16 LSU (Sept. 11)
  • Chattanooga at Kentucky (Sept. 18)
  • Southeast Missouri State at Missouri (Sept. 18)
  • Tennessee Tech at Tennessee (Sept. 18)
