  Fred Kerley leads American sweep of Diamond League men's 100m podium Fred Kerley led the charge for a United States sweep of the men's Diamond League 100-metre podium on Friday in Brussels, Belgium. The Olympic silver medallist crossed the finish line with a time of 9.94 seconds, while Trayvon Bromell posted a time of 9.97 seconds to place second in the race. Michael Norman came in third with a time of 9.98 seconds. Olympic silver medallist Christine Mboma won the women's 200 in 21.84 seconds, just 0.03 outside the world junior record the 18-year-old from Namibia set in the final in Tokyo. Sha'Carri Richardson of the United States placed fourth in 22.45.

Canada's Andre De Grasse won the men's 100 metres at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday, besting a world class field with a blazing wind-aided time of 9.74 seconds (+2.9). The six-time Olympic medallist from Markham, Ont., beat the stacked nine-man field to cross the finish line ahead of Tokyo silver medallist Fred Kerley of the U.S. (9.78). "I'm here to stay." Canada's Andre De Grasse added one more win to conclude a spectacular season at the Galà dei Castelli in Bellinzona, Switzerland on Tuesday.

Competing in the men's 100 metres, De Grasse bested American powerhouses Justin Gatlin and Fred Kerley to claim first place.

The 26-year-old from Markham, Ont. posted a time of 10.06 seconds.  Kerley — the Tokyo Olympic silver medallist — placed second in 10.11 while Gatlin was third at 10.13.

  Canada's De Grasse races to second in 100 and 200 metres at Diamond League Final ZURICH — Canada's Olympic champion Andre De Grasse raced to a pair of second-place finishes at the Diamond League Final on Thursday. The 26-year-old from Markham, Ont., opened the night with a second in the 100 metres, tying his personal best 9.89 seconds, a mark he set when he won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics. American Fred Kerley, silver medallist in Tokyo, won in 9.87. American Ronnie Baker took third in 9.91. De Grasse followed it up with a second in the 200 barely an hour later. He was well back of the leaders coming off the corner, but closed down the home stretch to run 19.72 seconds — his second fastest time of the season. Kenny Bednarek edged De Grasse in 19.

Canada's Andre De Grasse ran the men's 100 metres in 10.17 seconds to earn third place at the 60th Ostrava Golden Spike in Ostrava, Czech Republic on Wednesday. The three-time Olympic medallist from Markham, Ont., got off to a good start but Americans Fred Kerley and Justin Gatlin separated themselves from 4:57. De Grasse got off to a fast start this season he ran a 9.99 in April at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Florida, earning a second-place finish. He followed that up with a 10.05 at the North Florida Invitational which was good enough for another second place finish. Brown 3rd in 200.

De Grasse edged out the duo at the finish line, beaming afterward and grabbing Kerley by the shoulders.

"Last race of the season… thank you," De Grasse later wrote on Twitter.

The Olympic 200m champion and triple medallist in Tokyo finished his season on a winning note at the international athletics meeting hosted at the municipal stadium of Bellinzona.

He was also coming off recent performances in Zurich where he earned a pair of second-place finishes at the Diamond League Final.

Kerley had beaten the Canadian in the 100m in Switzerland, despite De Grasse tying his personal best of 9.89 seconds, which previously won him bronze in Tokyo.
