Reds’ Sebastian Giovinco raring to go after 23 days between games

Reds’ Sebastian Giovinco raring to go after 23 days between games It was a strange feeling for Sebastian Giovinco, sitting alongside Jozy Altidore in a suite in Ohio last Tuesday, the pair of Toronto FC strikers watching helplessly as their team took on the Columbus Crew in the first leg of Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference final. The Italian striker was suspended for the 0-0 tie, and he didn’t like being a spectator. That might be why the number of days between Giovinco’s last outing, in the conference semifinal against the New York Red Bulls, and his next, in the second leg against Columbus at BMO Field on Wednesday, is so engrained in the forward’s mind. “After 23 days, finally I play again.

Do not apologize .

The Toronto Maple Leafs honoured Toronto FC’s MLS Cup victory on Sunday night and star-forward Jozy Altidore was caught a little too much in the moment during the ceremonial faceoff.

After the ritual puck drop, Altidore, standing in the middle of a packed Air Canada Centre, was too focused on his phone to notice the outstretched hand of Leo Komarov.

While it looked for a second that the MLS Cup hero was going to leave the feisty Finn/Russian hanging, Altidore did eventually shake Komarov’s hand, albeit without moving his eyes from his phone.

After the game, Altidore took to Twitter to apologize for what could have been perceived as disrespect.

Toronto FC coach Greg Vanney credits team’s resiliency in record-setting season

Toronto FC coach Greg Vanney credits team’s resiliency in record-setting season As Toronto FC coach Greg Vanney reflected on 2017 ahead of being named Major League Soccer’s coach of the year on Monday, the Reds’ boss touched on some of his team’s struggles in the midst of their historic season. “I would reference back to the last two months. The amount of different things we’ve had going on within our groups over the last couple of months has been extraordinary and I think far more teams would’ve caved than teams that would’ve persevered through this,” Vanney said.“Things like injuries and some of our guys not qualifying for the World Cup and the emotional hit that some of these things take; we still managed to persevere and get the results that we needed in difficult times.

Well, Altidore has seen the video and offered up an apology on Twitter to Komarov and the Leafs , admitting that he was merely star struck. “Hey, Komarov ,” his tweet reads. “Just wanted to apologize and let you know I was caught up in the moment at center ice trying to show all of Toronto

Fans that watched the ceremonial puck drop couldn't help but notice that when Leo Komarov (who took the draw for the Leafs ) went to shake the hands of the TFC players, he was snubbed by Jozy Altidore .

“Hey, Komarov,” his tweet reads. “Just wanted to apologize and let you know I was caught up in the moment at [centre] ice trying to show all of Toronto and the Toronto FC fans how amazing it was being there. Congrats on the win! Best of luck to you and the Maple Leafs this season!”

Even the best of us get star struck, sometimes.
