This in from Sportsnet columnist Mark Spector, an interview with Peter Chiarelli where the Oilers GM gives a vote of confidence to Edmonton coach Todd McLellan, calling him a “very good coach” and indicating he has no intention of axing him right now.

“I have the utmost confidence in Todd and the coaching staff as a group. This is about working through it.”

Bringing in another asst. coach has been looked at but rejected, Chiarelli said. He indicated he won’t make a panic move: “I have to have a clear head, and I have to have someone in charge — meaning Todd — who has a clear head.”
