A high-ranking U.S. military official reportedly warned the Baltimore Ravens against signing quarterback Colin Kaepernick, according to a report.

TMZ Sports reported Monday that Ravens coach John Harbaugh sought advice from friends, one of whom is a high-ranking American military official, when the team was considering signing Kaepernick as a backup prior to the 2017 season. While the official did not outright say not to sign the quarterback, the official did suggest putting together strict guidelines to govern his behavior.

Ultimately, the Ravens opted against signing Kaepernick and instead signed Thad Lewis, who last threw an NFL pass in 2013.

The Ravens skipping out on Kaepernick was controversial at the time. We’re guessing the quarterback and his legal team will want to hear more about this and how it relates to an ongoing collusion suit that involves the Ravens.
