Three Leafs — Patrick Marleau, Auston Matthews, and Matt Martin — earned mentions in the National Hockey League Players’ Association player poll, which was released Thursday morning.

Some 500 NHL players, representing all 31 teams, responded to the poll, which asked a variety of questions, ranging from toughest player to the player you’d start a franchise with.

The results were graded by ranking the top five players in each category — and Matthews finished third in the category asking which player would you select to start a franchise with.

Crosby finished second to Connor McDavid in the player you’d select to start a franchise.

Other winners included Ryan Reaves as the toughest player, and Nicklas Backstrom as the most underrated player.

Matthews, meanwhile, participated with the Leafs in a full team practice Wednesday morning, marking his first practice with the team since he injured his shoulder Feb. 22.
