Diego Schwartzman won the first set of his French Open quarterfinal match against Rafael Nadal 6-4 on Wednesday, becoming the first man since 2015 to take a set off Nadal at Roland Garros.

The last man to do so was Novak Djokovic, who beat Nadal in straights in the quarterfinals three years ago. Since then, Nadal had won 37 consecutive completed sets on the red clay in Paris, just shy of Bjorn Borg's record of 41.

Nadal pulled out of the 2016 French Open with a wrist injury after a pair of straight-sets wins, won the tournament last year without losing more than four games in any set, and cruised through the first four rounds of this year's event before running up against a red-hot and fearless Schwartzman.
