Mitchell set a single-game franchise record by completing 90.9 per cent of his passes against the Argonauts in a 41-7 victory Saturday night in Toronto. The 28-year-old Texan finished the game with more touchdown passes (three) than incompletions (two), connecting on 20 of 22 passes for 324 yards before being removed from the game before the start of the fourth quarter.Winnipeg quarterback Chris Streveler was second in the voting and Hamilton pivot Jeremiah Masoli was third.

Lonnie Shelton , the starting power forward and defensive enforcer for the Sonics team that won the city’s only NBA title in 1979, has died at the age of 62 . Shelton passed away Sunday night in Westminster, Calif. after battling health issues since suffering a heart attack on May 5, according to

​The NBA family has lost a former champion this morning, with Lonnie Shelton passing away at the young age of 62. 

Shelton played 10 seasons in professional basketball for the Seattle SuperSonics, New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers. 

Shelton was known for his physical play near the basket.

Lonnie Shelton , a former NBA player best known for his time on the Seattle SuperSonics, is dead at the age of 62 following complications from a heart attack. Shelton won an NBA championship in the 1978-79 season with the Sonics. In the 1981-82 season he made his lone All-Star Game appearance.

Lonnie Jewel Shelton (born October 19, 1955) is a retired American National Basketball Association ( NBA ) player who played from 1976 to 1985. The NBA family has lost a former champion this morning, with Lonnie Shelton passing away at the young age of 62 .

He boasted career averages of 12 points and six rebounds per game. He won the title with Seattle in the 1978-79 season, where he played 17 games in the playoffs and averaged 13 points and eight rebounds in the postseason. 

He was also named to an All-Star team and All-Defensive second team in 1982.

Lonnie will be survived by his three sons LJ, Tim and Titus. Athleticism clearly runs in the family, as LJ played in the NFL, Titus played college basketball at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and Marlon played basketball for the University of Washington.
