This is my first company so I can't say I have all the answers, but here are some of the mistakes I'm trying to avoid as we scale Front:
Jennifer Lawrence's nude photos hacker pleads for leniency as sentencing looms

- Losing transparency: Transparency is core to our culture and our product. I believe that trusting employees with information about the business makes them more efficient, effective, and ultimately happier. As we scale to hundreds of employees across SF, Paris, and potentially future offices, we will be faced with the challenge of arming people with the appropriate amount of information they need to do their jobs, but not oversharing such that we're creating more questions or problems. Transparency is critical, but can also go too far.
- Losing touch with employees: Today, I know every single Fronteer by name and I have personal relationships with most of them. Because of this, I am quickly aware of issues, concerns, or reasons to celebrate. I know it's unrealistic that this will scale indefinitely, there will soon come a time when I don't know every employee as well, but I hope to retain my connections with the individuals that are building, selling, and marketing Front. I'm doing this today by hosting bi-weekly "Mathilde is free to chat" office hours where anyone can come ask me a question or catch up.
- Creating internal politics: At Front, I'm aiming to make internal politics impossible through simple actions like making calendars open by default, an obsession with hiring collaborative employees (particularly senior leaders who embody what it means to be transparent) and being careful about not hiring too fast so we don't have an environment where certain people don't have enough work.

New Color Scale Makes Data Visualizations Easier for Colorblind People to Read
Rainbows aren't intuitive at all. Now, researchers from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Washington have developed an alternative to the rainbow color scale that will make data visualization and other images easier to decipher for people with color-vision deficiency and the general public. Using a mathematical model of how the brain perceives differences in color, they created a new color scale they call cividis, which shows data exclusively in shades of blue and yellow—the colors that someone with colorblindness would see while looking at a rainbow color scale.
