Case opened: Democrats begin public airing of Mueller report

Case opened: Democrats begin public airing of Mueller report President Donald Trump says it's "case closed ." But Democrats are just getting started with Robert Mueller.

U.S. Democratic Representative Alexandra Ocasio - Cortez said on Tuesday it is time for Democratic leaders to allow an impeachment process to start against President Donald Trump , saying the administration's obstruction of lawmakers' oversight efforts gives them no choice.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has so far resisted calls for Democrats to launch impeachment proceedings, instead backing continued investigations of Trump and his administration by numerous congressional panels instead.

President Trump on Sunday cited Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), one of the many Democrats calling for impeachment hearings against Trump, to defend himself against impeachment.

Trump quoted Ocasio-Cortez's earlier remarks, made on ABC's "This Week," that Democrats have "a very real risk of losing the presidency to Donald Trump."

"I agree, and that is the only reason they play the impeach card, which cannot be legally used!" Trump said.

In the same interview, the freshman representative said that with "every day that passes, the pressure to impeach grows, and I think that it's justifiable."

"Ten counts of obstruction of justice, four with rock-solid evidence. We have violations of the Emoluments Clause. We need to at least open an inquiry so that we can look at what is going on, and that is what opening an impeachment inquiry means," she said. "Holding this president [to] account is holding all of government to account."
