Iran accused Israel of playing a "role" in the Friday assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, a senior Iranian scientist working in the nuclear sector, and warned that a "terrible revenge" awaited those implicated in what Tehran called a "terrorist act".

It was on a road near Tehran that Mohsen Fakhrizadeh's car was targeted. The eminent Iranian scientist, considered the father of the nuclear enrichment program, was seriously injured in an exchange of gunfire between his bodyguards and the attackers. Taken to hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

The head of Iranian diplomacy immediately condemned this attack, he speaks of a terrorist act and accuses Israel of playing a role in the death of the scientist. And to warn that a "terrible revenge" awaited those involved in this assassination.

In 2018, Benjamin Netanyahu the Israeli Prime Minister had designated Mohsen Fakhrizadeh as the person responsible for Iranian efforts to acquire a nuclear weapon, which Tehran has always denied.
