Seoul, January 27 (Reuters) - North Korea, which multiplies the series of ballistic missile tests since the beginning of the year, shot what seems to be two ballistic missiles off its east coast, said Thursday the staff of the South Korean army.
The Joint Staff South Korean (JCS) indicated that it has detected the shots around 8:00 am local time (23:00 GMT).
Missiles seem to have landed outside the exclusive economic zone of Japan, the Kyodo news agency reported, citing a Japanese government source.
Northern Korea has proceeded since the beginning of the month to six missile tests, while the number one North Korean Kim Jong-one called upon his new year's wishes to strengthening the country's military capacities, citing the Security context on impasse background in discussions with the United States on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
These tests were condemned by many governments, including the United States and Japan. A series of United Nations Security Council Resolutions, with penalties against Pyongyang, prohibit any North Korean ballistic and nuclear missile test. (Report Josh Smith; French version Camille Raynaud)
