BEAR, DE — In a significant development, Delaware State Police have tracked down and arrested a man from New Castle connected to a stabbing incident that occurred last month at an Amazon delivery hub. The attack seriously injured a 23-year-old victim.
The unfortunate event unfolded on August 28, 2025, around 11:00 a.m. Officers were called to the Amazon site on Bear Corbitt Road after reports of the stabbing. Upon arrival, they found the victim with multiple stab wounds. Responding troopers quickly stepped in, providing first aid until emergency medical services came to transport the individual to a nearby hospital, where he was reported to be in serious condition.
After following up on various leads, police identified 35-year-old Taamir Smith as the primary suspect. An arrest warrant was issued, and thanks to a coordinated effort on September 23, Delaware State Police together with U.S. Marshals located Smith on 24th Street in Wilmington. He was taken into custody without any resistance and brought to Troop 2.
Smith is facing serious charges, including first-degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon in relation to the felony. He was formally arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and is currently held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a cash bond set at $200,000.
It’s important to remember that the charges against Smith are just allegations at this point. Everyone is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
