Streamer Duke Dennis, whose real name is Denzel Shaquille Dennis, was taken into custody after a wild game of hide-and-seek in a San Antonio mall that was supposed to be closed off to the public. This event unfolded on Saturday, August 2, judging by reports from the San Antonio Police Department.
It all started when SAPD received a call about a ruckus at the Shops at Rivercenter around 10 p.m. Witnesses indicated that there were people playing and causing a scene inside the closed mall. Security attempted to tell them to leave, but they just wouldn’t budge.
When officers arrived, they instructed Dennis to vacate the premises. However, according to SAPD, he didn’t just verbally refuse – he also physically resisted their requests. As the cops told him to place his hands behind his back for a trespassing charge, he opted to make a run for it instead!
Security and police were quick to chase after Dennis, eventually catching him. They also detained another individual, Lavoune Mark Clarke, 40, who interjected during the arrest. Clark allegedly pushed an officer, injuring the officer’s hand in the process. He now faces several charges, including assaulting a security officer and resisting arrest. Clarke managed to post a $5,000 bond on August 4.
Dennis, on the other hand, was charged with evading arrest and criminal trespassing. He posted a $1,000 bail the following day, August 3. Right after getting out, he shared a message on his Instagram Story saying, “Officially on vacation, need suggestions on where to go…see yall later.” Recently, he and fellow streamer Kai Cenat had been housed at Tony Parker’s mansion in San Antonio, creating content for his impressive 3.2 million followers on Twitch.
There’s also video evidence of the whole incident floating around online. In a clip shared on social media, you can see Dennis c and sitting on the mall floor while Cenat peeks down from a balcony, filming the wild scene below.
For those following the legal proceedings, Dennis’s arraignment is set for September 8, as noted in court documents.
