In a tragic turn of events in Florida, Donald Jamesbrown Henry, aged 38, has been found guilty of second-degree murder for stabbing his friend, Shawn Popp, following a fierce political dispute. The argument, centered around Donald Trump’s financial problems, escalated quickly, ultimately leading to fatal consequences.
As reported by The Guardian, the district jury has delivered a verdict that may land Henry behind bars for up to 17 years, with the potential for life imprisonment set for his upcoming sentencing in October.
The altercation occurred on October 22, 2022, while visiting a mutual friend’s residence, where both Henry and Popp were spending time together. Witnesses revealed that the discussion took a sharp turn when Popp made a comment about “Trump going bankrupt,” igniting Henry’s anger.
Henry held a deep conviction that Trump was not actually bankrupt; instead, he believed that the failures resulted from wrong business partners, fueling his outrage. Court records indicate that he felt insulted by Popp’s statements and perceived them as an attack on his intelligence.
In a fit of rage, Henry fetched a kitchen knife he had been sharpening and stabbed Popp right in the chest. Despite his injuries, Popp was able to stumble outside and cross the street but ultimately collapsed.
Henry attempted to argue that he acted in self-defense, insisting that Popp’s fists were “deadly weapons,” and referenced his military background as a factor in his quick reactions during the confrontation. However, investigators determined that Henry’s injuries were only minor and did not justify such a violent response.
