Man Arrested for Armed Robbery and Burglary in Oak Lawn

OAK LAWN, Ill. — A local man from Worth is now facing serious felony charges after he attempted to break into a condo and subsequently committed armed robbery.

The incident unfolded on Sunday at around 4:30 p.m. when officers responded to a call in the 10900 block of Keating. According to reports, the suspect tried to enter an area condo through a window but bolted when the occupant spotted him.

While investigators were on the scene, a different condo owner reported being held at gunpoint just a short while earlier. This victim shared that a masked man had entered his place, forced him into a bathroom, and then attempted to steal his car along with other belongings.

Thanks to a quick response and a brief foot chase, police apprehended the man, later identified as Demarkcus Ross.

Ross was found in possession of jewelry and various items stolen from the condo, as well as the victim’s car keys. Moreover, he confessed to his crimes when interrogated by the authorities.

The man, whose last known home was in Worth, is now hit with hefty felony charges including home invasion with a firearm, armed kidnapping, and armed robbery.
