Marcus Morris has decided to speak up about his arrest and the serious accusations of stealing hundreds of thousands from Las Vegas casinos. He insists that this whole situation is just a huge misunderstanding.
On Wednesday morning, the NBA player took to Instagram to share his version of events for the first time since his arrest in Florida on Sunday. In a detailed post, he clarified that the issues began when he decided to “take out a marker to gamble” during his time in Vegas.
Morris, who shared that he has been a big spender in Sin City for several years, confessed to borrowing money from the casinos but believed he had more flexibility in paying them back. “Did I go past the time I needed to repay? Yeah, probably did,” he admitted.
“Did I know they would lock me up? Helllllllll no,” he remarked, adding that he has now cleared all his debts and firmly stating he isn’t a criminal. “We could’ve handled this MOB style in the back room at the casinos lol. But seriously though, I’ve never been a FRAUD or participated in any fraudulent activities,” he emphasized.
Morris was apprehended in Broward County after authorities from Nevada claimed he wrote $260,000 in bad checks to both the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino and the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and Casino back in 2024.
He was detained until Tuesday, describing the whole ordeal as a very upsetting experience, sharing, “24-hour lockdown with no food or water for the whole 51 hours. That’s the part that hurt me the most.”
However, Morris assured fans that everything is now sorted out, and he and his twin brother, Markieff, plan to discuss the situation further on Wednesday.
