In a shocking turn of events in eastern Georgia, police have apprehended a suspect connected to a “deeply disturbing video” where a young boy was coerced to strip at gunpoint.

According to authorities, just hours after Sheriff Richard S. Coleman shared a heartfelt appeal in a video to capture the individual responsible, the suspect’s own mother brought him to the Chatham County jail.

In a follow-up video shared on October 8, Coleman revealed the arrest but withheld the identity of the suspect. The case will now be passed to Savannah’s police department for further investigation.

As Coleman expressed in his video, “This represents yet another young person going down the wrong path. His mother turned him in after viewing our post. We were already on his trail, but mom got to him first.”

The victim, also a boy, was reportedly forced to undress on a street near Beach High School, specifically in the Liberty City neighborhood of Savannah, as indicated by WSAV reports. It’s important to note that the suspect is also underage, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office during their discussions.

When Coleman originally shared the video at around 8:30 PM on that Wednesday, it had amassed over 170,000 views by October 9. His frustration was apparent, as he acknowledged the community’s engagement, with many citizens reaching out to offer tips.

He pointed out, “In this video, a young individual was forced to remove his clothes while being threatened with a gun in the middle of a street. At one point, he was even struck with the weapon.”

Coleman further extended a direct message to the perpetrator: “No matter who you are … I’m determined to ensure you end up in a jail cell where you belong. We refuse to live in fear or let crime win in our community. I will find you and ensure you face justice.”

The sheriff made it clear that serious criminal offenses were involved in this troubling incident.
