The National Crime Agency (NCA) is stepping in to handle the investigation concerning serious allegations that some officers from South Yorkshire Police were involved in the sexual abuse of children in Rotherham.
Back in July, the BBC reported that five women who were victims of grooming gangs during their childhood have come forward, stating that they were also subjected to abuse by police officers in Rotherham during the 1990s and early 2000s.
Initially, South Yorkshire Police announced its intent to investigate the claims, but pressure mounted for them to withdraw from the case to maintain transparency and integrity in the investigation process.
In response, the NCA assured the public that “victims will remain at the heart of this investigation,” highlighting its commitment to addressing these grave allegations.
