A Shocking Discovery Sparks New Leads in Long-Standing Murder Case

Recently, police in Gainesville, Georgia, made a shocking revelation while investigating a road rage incident. This led them to the arrest of a young man charged with the tragic murder of a disabled veteran, John Tracy Hill, back in November 2024.

Logan Ryan Plumley, just 21 years old, now finds himself in serious trouble, facing felony murder, aggravated assault, and two charges of simple assault related to the untimely death of 64-year-old Hill.

The events unfolded on July 21, 2025, when officers responded to a call about a disturbance in the 700 block of Jesse Jewell Parkway. Two men reported a menacing confrontation with Plumley, who allegedly threatened them with a gun following a prior road rage incident. Fortunately, the victims quickly called for help, which scared Plumley off. Witnesses were able to provide crucial details, including his license plate and vehicle description.

As investigators looked deeper into Plumley’s action during the road rage encounter, they began connecting him to the cold case of Hill’s death. Hill, who couldn’t walk and lived just steps away from Plumley in their apartment complex, was found dead on November 16, 2024, after family members became concerned and requested a welfare check. Investigators concluded he had died due to “sharp force injuries.”

The Gainesville Police, working closely with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), have been diligently following all leads related to Hill’s death.

According to Chief Jay Parrish of the Gainesville Police, there’s no leniency when it comes to violent crime. He stated, “We will not stop until those responsible are brought to justice. Our teams are committed to utilizing all resources to prevent violent crime in our community.”

Currently, Plumley is being held at the Hall County Jail, and the investigation is active as authorities try to uncover the full details of this alarming case.
