Paul William Burdick, a 39-year-old resident of San Antonio, has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars after being found guilty in a case involving burglaries and identity theft.
Details from the Comal County court reveal that Burdick pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and one count of possessing stolen identifying information. His punishment was handed down by District Judge Tracie Wright-Reneau during proceedings in the 207th District Court.
On May 1, police in New Braunfels responded to a reported incident at a storage facility located on Ranch Parkway. The facility’s manager reported that locks on two storage units had been tampered with, catching the attention of law enforcement.
Surveillance footage revealed two men arriving in a black Tesla, which was sporting a mismatched license plate. The video showed them entering the units and leaving with several items including a welder, a pressure washer, and even a motorcycle, as detailed by the local district attorney’s office.
In another encounter, a police officer pulled over Burdick along with an accomplice who were driving a U-Haul truck. During the stop, authorities discovered a counterfeit mail key, along with mail intended for other individuals and identifying information tied to a previous burglary at Ranch Parkway.
Due to a prior criminal record that includes evading arrest and drug possession, his sentence was significantly extended, highlighting the serious nature of his actions, officials said.
