Shooting in Northeast DC Leaves One Dead; Police Search for Suspects

On Friday night, there was a tragic shooting incident in Northeast Washington, D.C., leaving one man dead. The Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the case.

The shooting occurred within an apartment located in the 300 block of Morse Street NE, a region near Union Market and NoMa. Officers arrived on the scene shortly after 8 p.m., responding to reports of gunfire in the area.

Upon entering the apartment, officers discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Sadly, he was found unconscious and without a pulse, and was declared dead on site.

Later, the victim was identified as 20-year-old Roy Lee Bennett Jr., a resident of Northeast D.C.

By Saturday morning, no arrests had taken place, but the police are seeking between four to five suspects who reportedly fled the building after the shooting.
